A geotechnical data analysis and monitoring platform
What is mXrap?
mXrap is a software platform that provides geotechnical engineers with many data analysis, monitoring and investigation tools. mXrap users can also develop their own apps using the in-built app editor.
mXrap (and its predecessor, MSRAP) were developed under the ACG's Mine Seismicity and Rockburst Risk Management project. As part of this project, the software served the purpose of a technology transfer tool to bring the project outcomes to the sponsor sites. The software design and capabilities, however, created the opportunity to extend its use outside the field of mining induced seismicity from which it originated.
What can mXrap do?
The mXrap platform is organised into modules, each containing specialised apps which focus on allowing users to make high-quality geotechnical decisions as quickly and easily as possible.
Mine Seismicity
Tools for analysing and interpreting mining-induced seismicity, as well as managing seismic hazards.
Stope Reconciliation and Prediction
For quick and easy reconciliation of mined surveys and design shapes. Uses machine learning to predict stope geometry and performance.
Rock Mass Data
Enables input and comprehensive analysis of geotechnical data including borehole, mapping, stress measurement, and rock testing data.
Inspections and Data Entry
A data entry application designed for offline use on tablet devices, customisable to meet the specific needs of each site.
Instrumentation
Tools for importing and evaluating various formats of extensometer and in situ stress data.
Caving
Integrates various cave monitoring methods to provide users with a comprehensive understanding of the activities within their cave mine.
Numerical Modelling Integration
Creates clean models for input into numerical modelling packages along with visualisation of the results, and other monitoring data.
Inrush
Allows users to visualise data from multiple sources for the purpose of quantifying and visualising inrush risk on a block cave footprint.
Ground Support
Tools for designing and visualising ground support systems for underground excavation.
Surface Monitoring
Tools for importing and evaluating prism data, commonly utilised for tracking ground movements.
Backfill
Assists in calculating paste fill volumes, bund capacities, and reticulation paths. Includes a strength testing database with curing models.
Utilities
A collection of tools designed to convert between formats and generally make tasks easier.
mXrap in action
Read dozens of peer-reviewed case studies demonstrating real-world usage of mXrap in a diverse range of mines.
Published papers
Trusted by mines worldwide
mXrap is deployed at over 80 mine sites worldwide, as well as being used as a valuable tool for consulting and academic research.

About the Australian Centre for Geomechanics
The Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG) is a not-for-profit mining research centre based at The University of Western Australia, Perth. The ACG undertakes research, education and training activities in the geomechanics disciplines to provide industry with the necessary tools and knowledge to ensure that safety is not simply a top priority on par with productivity, but rather an ethic that guides everything.
Research
The ACG continues to effectively respond to industry's needs by initiating innovative research that provides ongoing benefits and viabilities instead of 'quick-fix' solutions.

Events
The Australian Centre for Geomechanics presents numerous events including conferences, seminars, short courses and workshops each year for the global mining industry.
