Applying a Patch

When we upgrade your root, add a new app, or fix up an issue, we send through a "patch". These patches make your existing setup work with the new features and fixes. You'll need to apply the patch in mXsync.

Open mXsync

mXsync will have been installed alongside mXrap. The installer will have created a Start Menu item named "mXsync". Open it, and check that you're logged in. If you're logged in, you will see your username at the top of the program. If you're not logged in, go to User -> Login and enter your username and password. If you don't know your mXsync username and password, please contact support.

View your root

If you can see your root folder in the left-hand pane, skip to the next step.

If not, click on Projects -> Add an Existing Project Folder to list, then browse to the location of the site root folder. The root folder should now appear in the list on the left.

Click on your root folder, then look to the right for the appropriate chat (the mXrap team member that let you know about the patch should have told you the chat name). Click on the chat name, and you should see some text below. Click the last blue APPLY link button.

Check conflicts

The 'mXsync Apply Patch' window should pop up. Change the Filter in the top right hand corner to Conflicts.

Any conflicted files will be listed in the window in the centre.

If there are no conflicted files, press the 'Apply Patch to Selected' button. mXsync will extract the new files.

Once it's complete, you will get a Patch complete message. You can now close these windows and close mXsync.

Test the patch

Open mXrap and test that the patch is having the desired effect.

If everything is working, no further action is needed. If anything is broken, please do a default backup and email with a screenshot of the issue.

Creating a Patch

Create and send a patch using mXsync.
