Download a Root
Did you know you can download root folders from mXsync? We have uploaded a root folder for "Unicorn Gold" mine, which is semi-ficticious and uses data sets made available for research from sites have closed. The data can be handy for training, demos, research projects, or just for curiosity's sake. You may even want to download the Xgames root... for work purposes of course.
Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure that:
- mXrap has been installed
- You have access to the Start Menu item named "mXsync"
- You have valid mXsync credentials
Step 1: Launch and Login to mXsync
- Open mXsync from the Start Menu
- Verify you're logged in by checking for your username at the top of the program
- If not logged in:
- Navigate to
User -> Loginor click the Login button - Enter your username and password
- Contact support if you don't have credentials
- Navigate to
Step 2: Download a Root
Select a Project
- Click
Projects -> Download and follow a Project - Choose from available projects:
- Existing users: Your site root will be listed
- New users/Experimenters: Use
paul.harris / root_Unicorn_Gold(semi-fictional mine with sample data)

Choose Download Location
- Select the root you wish to follow
- Create an empty folder on your local hard drive for the download

Storage Warning
Never store mXrap roots in SharePoint/OneDrive folders. These cloud sync services can cause data corruption and synchronization issues.
Step 3: Update and Sync
Initial Download
- The new component folder will appear in mXsync's left panel
- Wait for the download to complete (progress shown in 'Download updates' panel)
- Apply updates by clicking the Auto Upgrade button in the 'Upgrade' panel
Future Updates
Return to mXsync periodically to upgrade your local copy when the source project receives updates.
Complete the Process
- Wait for the "Patch is complete" message
- Close the message window
- Close mXsync
Step 4: Open the Root in mXrap
Switch to Downloaded Root
- Open mXrap
- Click the Switch button
- Select Add a Root
- Navigate to and open your downloaded root folder
- If prompted about version upgrade:
- This indicates your mXrap version is newer than the root's last used version
- Click Yes, commit to upgrade to proceed
- Click Switch next to 'User Role'
- Select Admin Role

Step 5: Access Applications
You should now see all available applications in the root folder. Double-click any application to open it.

Troubleshooting
- Login Issues: Contact support for credential assistance
- Download Problems: Ensure stable internet connection and sufficient disk space
- Sync Conflicts: Avoid cloud storage folders (SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)
- Version Conflicts: Always commit to upgrades when prompted
